Our History
Collision Theatre Company (CTC) was unofficially formed over the summer of 2003 when Jason Fleitz and Seth Unger approached playwright Adam Simon about producing his play, The Middling Seasons, in the living room of their apartment. Following a weekend of packed houses the twosome decided to keep Collision moving forward.
That same summer CTC travelled to Sioux City, IA on a mission to create a company created original work. Three weeks later they had written and produced three piece suit, CTC's first original production.
In April of 2005 CTC filed their Articles of Incorporation and became an official company recognized by the state of Illinois.
In 2005 CTC added new company members and began planning for their first fully funded production. The company also started what would become an annual event, The Summer Reading Series, a series of workshops and readings of new plays by Chicago-based playwrights.
In March of 2006 CTC kicked off their first official season with Shotgun Wedding, a new play written for the company and directed by Chris Garcia Peak.
CTC's second season began with with a late-night production of Mac Wellman's Dracula. In the spring of 2007 CTC presented the Midwest premiere of Sheila Callaghan's play Scab.
