Scab is Open!

Scab is up!

It was really exciting to hear everyone's thoughts on the show after the performances this weekend. The ending of the show sure stirred up some healthy theatrical debate over brunch with my parents the next morning. If you have any comments about the show or questions that you would like answered, we invite you comments on this blog post as your forum. We'd love to hear from you!

But wait... have you even seen the show yet? Are you wondering how you can participate in this post-show blog-talkback as well? Only three short weeks remain until Scab closes, so make sure you reserve your tickets soon. You can find all the pertinent show information here.

The Latest Trends...

There has been a trend as of late in our rehearsals for Scab. It has to do with a vowel for consonant replacement strategy and goes like this: replace all the vowels in a word with “R’s”, so Seth would become SRTH, calendar would be come CRLRNDR, and Scab would become SCRB! (Pronounced sk-URB)

I’m not quite sure how this language-hack got started, but it has won acclaim in our hearts.

Four weeks ago we slipping “R’s” in here and there; inquiring about a post rehearsal pot-luck became, “Shall we make a trip to the srprrmrkrt?” This week any one of us would be comfortable spouting out, “Whrt thr hrll rs grrng rn, crmprdrrs?”

Yes, we’re going into our last week of rehearsal before tech and I think we all feel—loose. In a good way, in the way that when Libby asks if we can use a rolling stool as one of the onstage chairs, we all have a good natured laugh at the possible medical side-effects that come with a diagnosis of a “rolling stool”. Keeping our humor in the gutter, right where it belongs.

Pretty Pictures

Saturday Morning I met Kate and Marjorie at the Lincoln Park Conservatory. Our goal was to get some photos of the two of them among the foliage for our Scab press photos. The mission was accomplished. I felt a bit peculiar, nay, a tad perverted taking photos of Kate and Marjorie holding hands and looking curiously into one another’s eyes as parents strolled by us with their children… but HEY, it’s theatre… and we’re exploring bi-curiosity for a good cause.

After a few minutes of dealing with a fogged lens (cold outside + warm conservatory = soft focus) we got down to business. Kate only had 20 minutes on her parking meter so we had to work fast. I was really happy with the way the photos turned out. I even photoshopped the signs with the names of the plants out of the pictures to give the photos an even more natural feel. The results all look something like this:

Doesn't it make you want to see the show even more now?
